We have all experience the ordeal of treating your hair with nourishing oils and sitting under a giant heater with rollers in your hair and leave your hair to absorb all the vapors. This is a process known as steaming. Steaming is beneficial to your hair for many reasons:

• It hydrates dull, dry hair
• It encourages blood flow to circulate which promoted the growth of your hair
• The steam will lift your hair cuticles and lets products penetrate into your hair roots.
• Steaming helps increase the naturals oils produced in your scalp.
• It cleans the scalp by removing dirt and dead skin to promote hair growth and elasticity.

Hair steaming can be done at home as well. All it takes is the proper hair product, a shower cap, a warm towel, hot water, and a blow dryer (optional) and the following easy steps:

WASH YOUR HAIR

First, wash your hair with a mild shampoo and rinse thoroughly.

APPLY YOUR PRODUCT

It could be an oil, ampule or hair mayonnaise. Just make sure it is good for your hair and will soften it. Ensure you apply the product thoroughly to your scalp and the entire length of your hair.

WARM YOUR TOWEL

Place your towel in a bucket of hot water, squeeze off the excess as much as possible. You can also place you towel in a microwave for a few seconds to heat it up.

WRAP YOUR HAIR

Pack your hair into a bun if you have to and wrap the warm towel securely over your hair. You can wear a shower cap over the towel and reheat it with your blow dryer when it gets cooler.

UNWRAP AND VIOLA! YOU’RE DONE

After about 20-30 minutes, you can take off the towel and shower cap. Wash excess products from your hair, rinse it out with cold water and you are good to go.
