FIVE SIGNS OF A VAGINAL INFECTION

When you have a fever, your temperature rises. When you’re hungry, your stomach rumbles and aches. All of this is your body speaking to you concerning different things. Your body might not have a mouth but there are signs you get that’ll let you know something is wrong. Your vagina is also one part of your body that will tell you when something is wrong. Most people are not even aware of the signs to look out for.

Vaginal infections are very common that most women experience one at least once in their lifetime. Some vaginal infections are caused by sexually transmitted diseases, others are as a result of bad bacteria. Some women are also more prone to infection than the rest. VAGINAL ITCHING

Vaginal itching is one key pointer that something isn’t right with your vagina. The vagina, vulva or entire genital area can itch persistently. If your vagina is persistently itchy/ticklish, it means you need to see a doctor. Something could be wrong.

VAGINAL ODOR

An unusual foul vagina odor is a cause for concern. The vagina has its own natural smell and even at that, the scent can be unfamiliar at times. A stark difference therefore means there could be an underlying issue.

YOUR BODY NEEDS IT

Your body needs water to flush out body waste such as sweating, removal of urine and faeces. Your airways need it to calm allergies. Your kidneys need it to regulate fluid in bod. Do you get the point?

UNUSUAL VAGINAL DISCHARGE

The vagina is a self cleaning organ so you’ll constantly see discharge. This is its way of flushing impurities out. During the different times of a woman’s menstrual cycle, this discharge can have different colors and consistency.
Yeast or bacterial infections can cause an abnormal discharge. Keep an eye out for foul smelling discharge or itchy discharge. This is not normal and could be a sign of something bad.

IRRITATION

The skin of the vulva is delicate and therefore vulnerable to different conditions. Irritations can occur in form of:
• Redness
• Swelling
• Burning
• Skin cracking/ splitting
• Pad rash
Irritation can also be linked to skin conditions such as dermatitis or it could be a sign of an infection. Contact your doctor to determine the cause.

PAINFUL INTERCOURSE

Painful intercourse could be as a result of vaginal dryness, inadequate lubrication, injury, emotional factor, etc. infections can cause pain during intercourse. Consult your doctor to find out the true cause.
