HOW TO DEAL WITH FRIZZY HAIR

Frizzy hair is hair that does not blend with surrounding hairs but stands up or curls alone, creating an irregular texture. Genetics, hair damage and humidity can cause frizzy hair.
When your hair is dry and damaged, it causes your hair to take in the moisture from the air, this is the leading cause of frizzy hair. Frizzy hair is 100 percent natural and beautiful however there are days where we all want something sleek and smooth. So here are some expert-approved tips and tricks to make sure your hair cuticles are as flat and smooth as possible.

GET A TRIM

This is the first step. Get rid of dry, dead ends with a good trim. Split ends can extend to the root of your hair and cause more damage so it’s better to stop it at the roots.

BE PICKY WITH YOUR SHAMPOO

Your hair needs as much hydration as possible so avoid shampoos with high alcohol content. Opt for shampoos with hydrating ingredients like glycerin, hyaluronic acid, aloe Vera, etc.

WATCH HOW YOU WASH

Over washing your hair can make it dry and frizzy from the lack of moisture. Also, try to wash and rinse with cool or warm water. Heat will worsen the situation. The same goes for styling. Tools like curlers, hand dryers, stretchers, etc can cause heat damage as well.

PROTECT YOU HAIR

Try as much as possible to cover your hair from the elements. Wear caps as often as possible and make sure you wear a silk bonnet or sleep on silk pillowcases. They prevent frizzing.

DUMP YOUR TOWEL

Your towel has a role to play in your frizzy hair. It is advisable to use a micro-fiber tower or a cotton T-shirt. Try not to rub your hair vigorously. Instead, wrap the T-shirt or non-fiber towel around your hair and let it soak up water in your hair for a while.

MOISTURIZE

Your hair frizzes, because it needs moisture, the simple solution is to moisturize. Apply a lot of hydrating serums and inculcate leave-in-conditioner to your hair care routine.
