Borage 500 provides one of the highest and most bioavailable plant sources of GLA at 20%, versus the meagre 7% of GLA present in evening primrose oils. GLA promotes beautiful skin, a healthy heart, and hormonal balance. Since borage is so concentrated in GLA, less borage oil is required for the beneficial effects.

In the standard North American diet, we are exposed to high amounts of pro-inflammatory omega-6 fatty acids such as arachidonic acid (AA). These fatty acids can be beneficial but with chronic overexposure it can upset the delicate inflammatory balance of our bodies.

Gamma-Linolenic acid (GLA) is also an omega-6 fatty acid that is produced by the body and is converted to DGLA (Dihydro Linoleic acid). DGLA is a less potent inducer of inflammation as compared with AA. DGLA is also able to promote the production of inflammatory response mediators.
